The British Scholarship Trust is a registered charity which awards scholarships to post-graduate students from the former Yugoslavia in order to pursue specialist studies for short periods in the United Kingdom. The Trust allocates between 10 and 15 stipends each year. Study periods are normally from three to six months. The stipend normally covers maintenance expenses and in some cases library or 'bench' fees. The Trust is unable to cover the fees of full-time taught courses.

Scholarship

The normal grant for the current academic year is £800 per month (£915 for placements in London). It is intended to cover living expenses. The grants are modest in size but students can be expected to live reasonably comfortably on the grant. Tuition fees are NOT covered but some other fees charged by the host institution  (bench fees, library use, etc.) may be met by the Trust. Travel expenses to and from the placement are covered by the candidates themselves or their home institutions. The monthly grant payments are made by arrangement with the Treasurer of the Trust.

Library Visit grant for students from Bosnia-Herzegovina

These grants are for a visit of 4 weeks only. In addition to the normal level of grant the Trust also covers the cost of travel to and from the UK. This provision applies ONLY to those students whose travel is not paid for by any other body. Please note this grant is for a period of 4 weeks only and will not be extended. Within this period post-graduate students should be able to gather a considerable amount of information for their studies. Libraries do not normally charge for visiting students but visitors cannot borrow books.
